It pleases me that two of the five ramen restaurants on this list have branches in Singapore. We have a lot of these ‘next level’ establishments selling a bowl of noodles for $15-20, but not enough street-style places where you can have a no-frills serving for under $8.

The Japanese have a comic book (and a name) for the foreign man who comes and steals their women: Charisma Man. This CNN video report is intriguing for how it doesn’t vilify the local women or suggest names for them the way we have “Sarong Party Girls” here in Singapore. The focus is on the visitor and how he’s just a nobody back home. The lamentations of the Japanese male population are given some airtime though.

Joystiq reviews editor Justin McElroy spent a whole hour of his life trying to catch a fish in the new Xbox360/PS3 game from Square Enix, Nier. It’s an essential quest to save the character’s dying daughter, but so frustratingly and poorly implemented that it led to the creation of this outraged video rant. Funny stuff.

As far as I know, this is the first time in 20 years that The Simpson’s opening couch scene has been done as a minute-long parody of a music video, bearing almost no resemblance to the usual format. It’s almost a paid commercial, but it’s also pretty awesome.Update: Original video was taken down, new copy linked.

Errol Morris loves this ad, and you have to admit it’s really something. Buy a mobile home from Cullman Liquidation, or don’t. He doesn’t care. The making-of video is cool too, and has Star (the token hot salesgirl) saying a few lines.

Pretty sure this look is more “crazy homeless girl” when viewed outside the studio.
